Planetary System Summit #1

A séance between ancient ocean krill and oily bubble wrappers, OMV pipeline, Danube Island, November 2, 2016 (All Souls Day)

For the series PLANETARY SYSTEM SUMMITS, site-specific situations were chosen which present key issues and players in the global climate crisis in material form, as a way of hosting meetings between human and non-human agents.
For PLANETARY SYSTEM SUMMIT #1, a group of invited politicians, scientists, artists, energy workers, and therapists met at the OMV pipeline on the Danube Island in order to hold a séance with the long-dead organisms that now pass through pipelines as oil.
As part of a Systemic Constellation Work1, our future perspectives were discussed by plankton, the past 1 + 2, the ocean, oil, the future, the great Pacific garbage patch, shared potentials, human and non-human collectives, the economy, creation processes, ecology, and both intuitive and rational knowledge.

1 - An approach which defines a living system not by its individual parts, but by the relationships between them. The field has numerous applications—from healing personal and ancestral traumas, to helping businesses and other social systems to perform better. The method works by revealing previously unrecognized patterns which can span multiple generations, by re-positioning representatives, and/or by adding key members to the system who have been forgotten or written out.
